ContractHire · Contract staffing · Hourly or monthly

Contract staffing: professionals on our payroll, on your team.

ContractHire is contract staffing with the terms in the open. BizFirst finds, vets and employs the professional; they work on your team, under your direction, in your systems; you see one bill rate. Two tracks: contract recruiters who work inside your ATS, and contract professionals across IT, finance and accounting, program and project management, and operations.

Contract staffing, done plainly

You direct the work. We carry the employment.

Reach for ContractHire when you need a person for a period, a project, or a trial before a permanent hire, and you would rather someone else carried payroll, taxes, insurance and onboarding. A senior BizFirst lead vets every professional before they are offered to you. From there the professional reports to your manager, works your hours, and uses your tools, while a BizFirst account lead stays on the engagement for timesheets, invoicing, coverage and renewals.

Other names for the same thing: contract staffing, staff augmentation, contract-to-hire, and, for recruiters, client-managed RPO or an embedded contract recruiter. BizFirst is based in Ashburn, Virginia, and places contract professionals nationwide, on site or remote.

Who employs

BizFirst is the employer of record

The professional is a W-2 employee of BizFirst, or an independent consultant with their own registered company and insurance. Payroll, employer taxes, workers' compensation and liability coverage, and onboarding paperwork are ours, with a background check at your request.

Who directs

Your manager, your tools, your hours

The professional takes day-to-day direction from your manager and works in your systems. Hours go into our timesheet system and you approve them weekly, so the bill always matches the work you signed off.

The bill

One bill rate, invoiced every two weeks

Hourly, or a fixed monthly rate for full-time schedules. Invoices go out every two weeks on Net 15 terms, for approved hours. Every ContractHire engagement starts with a 90-day initial period and then runs month to month.

Convert

Hire the professional whenever you are ready

A conversion fee of 10 percent of first-year base salary applies inside the first six months. After 1,040 billed hours, about six months of full-time work, the hire converts with the fee waived.

Two tracks

Contract recruiters, or contract professionals

Both run the same way: BizFirst employs, you direct, and the bill rate is the person's pay rate plus a published markup, 45% for a W-2 employee of BizFirst or 25% corp-to-corp, with a $15 an hour minimum. The difference is the work the person does for you.

Contract Recruiters
Fixed monthly or hourly

Set from the recruiter's pay rate plus 45% (W-2) or 25% (corp-to-corp). Hires included in the rate.

A recruiter who reports to your hiring manager and works in your ATS, your job-board accounts and your process: client-managed RPO, with BizFirst as the employer. You are billed for time, with every hire included.

Best fit when you already have a recruiting process and an ATS and need experienced recruiting hands inside it. 90-day initial period, then month to month on 30 days' notice.

Contract Professionals
Pay rate plus a published markup

45 percent for a W-2 employee of BizFirst, 25 percent corp-to-corp. A $60 an hour W-2 professional bills at $87 an hour.

IT and cloud, data and AI, finance and accounting, program and project management, and operations professionals, for uncleared roles. Hourly, or a fixed monthly rate for full-time schedules. Replacement in the first 30 days.

Best fit when you need a skilled person for a period, a project, or a trial before a permanent hire. 90-day initial period, then month to month on two weeks' notice.

The published rates are our small and midsize business pricing. Enterprise programs (an MSA, preferred-vendor terms, or a larger program) are scoped and quoted separately. Roles that require a security clearance run through DirectHire or a PartnerHire cleared-role seat.

ContractHire or PartnerHire?

Who runs the recruiting is the difference

Three ways to put a BizFirst recruiter or professional on your roles. Pick by who you want directing the work and how you want to pay.

PartnerHire Core

BizFirst runs it. A senior Client Delivery Lead directs the search in our systems and reviews every submission; our sourcing stack is included; $8,500 a month plus $1,000 per placement. How PartnerHire works

ContractHire Recruiters

You run it. The recruiter works in your ATS and your process and reports to your hiring manager; BizFirst employs, covers and replaces; billed for time at their pay rate plus a published markup, with every hire included.

DirectHire

A permanent hire, priced per hire. $5,000 opens the search, credited in full toward a fee of typically 10 to 15 percent of salary, with a 90-day replacement guarantee. How DirectHire works

Trying before you hire? A contract professional can convert to your payroll whenever you are ready: 10 percent of first-year base salary inside the first six months, and the fee is waived after 1,040 billed hours. It is the lowest-risk path to a permanent hire we offer.

What is included

Everything between the offer letter and the timesheet

Vetting

A senior lead vets every professional

The same sourcing and screening that runs our DirectHire searches. A senior BizFirst lead reviews each professional against your requirements before you ever see them, and you interview and choose.

Employment

Payroll, taxes, insurance and paperwork

W-2 payroll, employer taxes, workers' compensation and liability coverage, I-9 and onboarding paperwork, and a background check at your request. Independent consultants work through their own registered company, carrying their own insurance, under a BizFirst subcontract.

Time and billing

Weekly approval, biweekly invoices

Hours are logged in our timesheet system and approved by you each week. Invoices every two weeks, Net 15, for approved hours. Full-time schedules can be billed as a fixed monthly rate.

Coverage

Replacement and renewals handled

If a professional is not the right fit in the first 30 days, we replace them. A BizFirst account lead stays on the engagement for coverage, extensions and conversion to a permanent hire.

Common questions

ContractHire, answered

What is ContractHire?

ContractHire is BizFirst's contract staffing model, also called staff augmentation or contract-to-hire. BizFirst finds, vets and employs the professional; they work on your team, under your direction, in your systems; you see one bill rate. It has two tracks: Contract Recruiters, who work inside your ATS and report to your hiring manager, and Contract Professionals across IT, finance and accounting, program and project management, and operations.

How much does ContractHire cost?

Both tracks are billed at the person's pay rate plus a published markup: 45 percent for a W-2 employee of BizFirst, 25 percent for an independent consultant with their own registered company and insurance. Contract Recruiters usually run full time on a fixed monthly rate set from that markup, with every hire included; Contract Professionals are billed hourly, or at a fixed monthly rate for full-time schedules. A $60 an hour W-2 professional bills at $87 an hour, and the minimum markup is $15 an hour. The published rates are our small and midsize business pricing. Enterprise programs (an MSA, preferred-vendor terms, or a larger program) are scoped and quoted separately.

What is the difference between ContractHire Recruiters and PartnerHire Core?

Who runs the recruiting. PartnerHire Core is run by BizFirst: a senior Client Delivery Lead directs the search in our systems, reviews every submission, and the fee includes our sourcing stack plus $1,000 per placement. A ContractHire recruiter is run by you: they work in your ATS and your process, take direction from your hiring manager, and you are billed for time at their pay rate plus a published markup, with every hire included. BizFirst is the employer either way.

Who is the employer of record, and who handles payroll and taxes?

BizFirst. A contract professional is a W-2 employee of BizFirst, or an independent consultant with their own registered company and insurance. BizFirst runs payroll, employer taxes, workers' compensation and liability coverage, and onboarding paperwork, and arranges a background check at your request. You direct the day-to-day work.

How are hours tracked and invoiced?

The professional logs hours in BizFirst's timesheet system and you approve them weekly. Invoices go out every two weeks on Net 15 terms, for approved hours only. Full-time schedules can be billed as a fixed monthly rate set from the same markup.

Can we hire a contract professional permanently?

Yes, whenever you are ready. A conversion fee of 10 percent of first-year base salary applies inside the first six months. After 1,040 billed hours, about six months of full-time work, the hire converts with the fee waived.

What roles does BizFirst provide on contract?

Contract Recruiters for in-house talent teams, and Contract Professionals across IT and cloud, data and AI, finance and accounting, program and project management, and operations, for uncleared roles. Roles that require a security clearance run through DirectHire or a PartnerHire cleared-role seat.

Is there a minimum engagement?

Every ContractHire engagement starts with a 90-day initial period. Contract Recruiters then run month to month on 30 days' notice, the same term shape as PartnerHire; Contract Professionals run month to month on two weeks' notice. If a professional is not the right fit in the first 30 days, we replace them.
